#Hforhelium

What started as one nifty little custom typography piece to share on instagram has begun to take on a life of its own. I was doing research and preproduction for a client project last week and stumbled across this beautiful mark + business card for Mamzelle & Co. in Montreal. I fell in love. The ornate M, elegantly placed on such a clean card, the color, all of it. Everything was perfectly executed in my eyes but I was particularly fond of what was done with the M mark. Inspiration took hold and I clamored to make something similar.

The letter H was the most obvious choice [it's our favorite letter, after all] so I took a stab at it. Drawing from the inspiration I happened upon earlier, I made a custom H mark to be shared on instagram.

As I do with most of my work, I bounced it off of my fellow designers and my art director to get their input. Sofia encouraged me to push the idea further and we decided that custom typography pieces like this should appear in our social feeds more often. The question that we ultimately ended up asking ourselves was “why not every day?”. And just like that, #Hforhelium was born. It’s still in its infancy but I’ve made a new H everyday for over a week now and I’m loving it :). Brandon caught the H bug the other day and made one of his own. We can’t wait to see where this passion project takes us and what it continues to evolve into. Take a look at some of the #Hforhelium posts we’ve cranked out thus far and a little bit of the [very crude] processes behind them. Be sure to follow us on instagram [@heliumcreative] so you can catch them all. Let us know what you think and don’t hesitate to send us your own #Hforhelium creations either!

We were greatly overwhelmed by the number of folks who came on out to celebrate helium‘s 10 years of business on January 24. It was an amazing night filled with awesome performances, artists and smiling faces. We are proud of how much helium has accomplished collectively over the past decade and are excited to see what the future holds for this little agency that could! Thank you to all who came out, donated to helium inspires [guatemala], drank a bit, ate a lot and gave us a warm pat on the back. Much more to come from team helium very soon. : )

I am grateful to say that helium is a collective of creative minds who believe in doing something big. Together we look forward to another 10 years to create, design, inspire and motivate.

inspire guatemala

thinkfully_04 This is a landmark year for helium creative. In 2014 we will celebrate our 10th anniversary, unveil a new website, complete life-changing projects and take our first mission trip to Guatemala. As part of Chris Heller’s vision to give back creative genius to the world when he founded helium, we decided it was time to take our efforts to a whole new level. We knew Guatemala was the perfect destination to take our first mission trip by seeing the impact our FATVillage friends from C&I Studios were able to make when they visited the Central American country last year. The videos and photographs they brought back were jaw dropping. Every child they were able to meet and teach the arts to had a smile big enough to wrap around the earth twice. The tales they told of their journey and the creative seeds that they were able to leave with a distant community, who would have been without art if they didn’t take they time to make a difference, solidified our decision to team up with C&I Studios in 2014 and make the trip bigger, better and more impactful than before. Plenty of companies give back to their communities and other charitable causes around the globe that interest them – but we wanted to make our trip unique. Just how plenty of companies also offer creative services, helium separates from the group by adding an innovative, yet effective edge to our work. So why should our mission trip be any different? At the end of May, we are packing our bags for a 4-day journey to Guatemala City and Antigua, but we’re not just packing clothes. We are gathering new art supplies to personally hand deliver to the children of Guatemala City and Antigua. After they enjoy their new gifts, helium creative wont stop there. We are going to teach these students how to use these supplies to create art and brighten their communities. Growing up in an industrialized, first world country – it is sometimes easy to lose sight of teachings we learned as children that expanded our minds and taught us how to be creative. Our goal is to make sure these children don’t miss out on that opportunity and they retain all the lessons we can provide them. Years from now when one of these children paints a mural in the city, sparks a new idea to help their family, or pursues a career in the creative industry – we will know that we had an impact on the arts, the world and someone’s life. Its time to break out of our cozy design studio in downtown Ft. Lauderdale and spread our vision and passion around the globe – and you can help us. Fill our bags with art supplies or fill our non-profit with donations to make this trip a reality. We are grateful for all our family, friends, clients and supporters who have donated so far. Click here to donate to our mission trip now! Every dollar counts! This is only the first step in spreading a higher creative standard.
